Before buyingTeam
After studying German and Economics with Swedish at University, involving periods of time spent working abroad; I joined American Express on their graduate training programme. After two years working as a project manager, I relocated to Leeds to work for Asda Wal-Mart. I spent four years there in global sourcing, travelling in the Far East, identifying new suppliers and sourcing non-food products.

What my job involves
I am responsible for the client relationship on various procurement projects and for deploying the appropriate resource onto the project. I work with clients to define what they want to achieve and ensure that buyingTeam is delivering to their expectations. I also have line management responsibility for Procurement Advisors.

My highlight at buyingTeam so far
My highlight so far has been working on a £ multi-million travel contract for a major global manufacturing company. This involved consolidating supply of travel services across ten countries and implementing one common travel policy. I also worked closely with the US parent company to ensure the European solution was in line with the wider corporate objectives.

What I enjoy most about my role
I enjoy the sheer variety of exposure to so many industry sectors. One day I can be working on a profit discovery project for a financial services client, the next I might be reviewing the supply chain dynamics of a large retail business. I have also worked with a number of public sector clients which is experience I would not have gained if I had pursued other careers I considered.

Why I would recommend a career at buyingTeam
buyingTeam’s success is built upon a solid foundation of really good people who are experts in their specialist areas. This allows a generalist like myself to draw on this knowledge to deliver tangible benefits for our clients, which is satisfying. The work is varied, interesting and above all rewarding. I have learnt a great deal from the people I work with and the ‘open door’ policy is actually true!

Why I stay at buyingTeam
buyingTeam manages to provide a working environment that is challenging and dynamic but has still retained the feel of a small business that values its people. Work-life balance is important here and good team work is vital to what we do.
