Travel
There is no off-the-shelf travel buying kit that works for all organisations.
But if there is a typical project, it is about guiding a client along a journey. From a position of complex, often unclear processes, to a solid foundation, with a client in control and benefitting from better deals with airlines, hotels and travel management companies (TMCs).
A classic travel situation is that of a large multi-site organisation, with staff booking travel on an ad hoc basis, with no central control of the budget or management information.
In some cases, organisations have already engaged a TMC, but have found this has not delivered all of the benefits they expected.
This is where procurement expertise can be of real help:
- What sort of MI do you really need?
- Are the TMC fees competitive?
- Are the air route deals or hotel prices as good as they could be?
- Are rates going up or down?
We are finding more and more clients looking for support in this category. Travel is a controllable cost. It is a major part of the carbon footprint for many organisations. Employers have a duty of care towards employees travelling for business. For all these reasons, it is an area that few can afford to ignore.
